Rape of 5-year-old girl sets off new furore in India:Show your support to this little girl

We Indians are an angry people now. Thousands of people have poured into the streets, indignant and outraged over the savage case of rape and assault on a young woman in New Delhi.
That anger degenerated this week into hysteria and bloodlust, with calls for capital punishment and castration of the rapists. The Internet was flooded with comments urging public hanging and beatings. One response on an Internet forum suggested that Delhi men be raped so that “the problem can be solved”; another advocated the rapists be urinated upon.
If there was ever a proud moment to be an Indian, this isn’t it.
There are some who want stricter punishment in such cases, but clearly, as many experts say, it is the certainty of punishment rather than the severity that matters. Sexual assault cases on women in India increased by 25 percent in the six years to 2011, and lawyers believe much of this can be attributed to the low rate of conviction in such cases.
The only time I remember when rape has made national headlines and generated an outpouring of anger was when the victim was someone like us — middle class, educated and urban — such as the cases of the medical student in 2003, or  the call centre worker a few years ago.
A few months ago, several men in a village in Haryana reportedly raped a young woman in a car. Someone filmed the attack, and the tape circulated through the village. The woman’s father was so overcome with shame that he killed himself. I don’t remember this case generated the same level of hysteria and calls for public hanging, for it happened to someone who was not like us.
Now, we in the media talk of “national shame”. Where is our sense of shame when women are stripped, beaten and paraded naked in front of an entire village as punishment?
I remember the case of a woman in the late 1990′s, who was labelled a witch by the politically mighty in the village who wanted to seize her land. She was dragged out of her home, stripped, tied up and left hanging from a tree, chili powder poured into her genitals. She was then beaten to death in front of her young children. The story was narrated by her daughter to a television news channel for a Hindi-language programme. But I don’t remember this story being picked up by any English-language newspaper.
Now people protest on the streets, asking for the capital to be made safer. But safe for whom? For the poor women living on the streets? For the boys and girls who sleep outdoors and who are most vulnerable to sexual and physical abuse? No. We want safety for ourselves, the middle classes. We do not want to let anything come in the way of our march towards modernity. We want to be a global superpower. It is a deep inferiority complex, and to get rid of it, we demand the world recognise us. But we have no sense of shame about the millions of poor who are our fellow citizens, and we have little idea of what social justice is.
Exposure to these incidents threatens to remove our mask of modernity as we still remain a primitive society rooted in inequality, polarised by class, caste and religion. These values have come to our door, as shrinking land holdings, lack of jobs, an ambition to be part of a “shining India” and displacement because of dam and industrial projects trigger a massive migration from villages and towns to cities.
Conservative social mores come face-to-face with rapidly changing city lifestyles. Poverty and the humiliation and indignity that come with it are harder to bear in the face of opulent displays of new wealth.
It is time we focus on these inequalities and demand justice for all. It is time to act with reason. A good way to start would be to ask ourselves, do we want to be a civilised nation, or do we want to compete with the Taliban? In many ways, they are our closest neighbours.

BEST ANDROID APPS FOR FUN:TOP 10

1. Zedge (Free)
For customization fans, Zedge has been a popular name for years now. The free Zedge app offers access to a huge database of ringtones, notification sounds, standard wallpapers, and live wallpapers. If you want to set up your Android with new sounds or snazzy wallpaper, this is definitely the place to start looking. It’s easy to search and you could browse the categorized content for hours. The app is ad-supported, but it’s a fair trade for the wealth of free content on offer.
2. Skifta (Free)
Being able to stream your content from your smartphone to any DLNA certified device makes Skifta extremely handy. It’s an easy to use app and it’s completely free. Not only can you stream directly from your phone, but you can also access content on your PC back at home when you’re out and about. This means it’s easy to show off your vacation photos wirelessly at a friend’s house on their DLNA certified TV, or share a playlist from your computer at home on their music system. Once set up, it’s as easy as selecting a source, a destination, and then choosing the content.

3. Field Trip (Free)
If you want a glimpse of the future with location-based push notifications then you need to check out Google’s Field Trip. It serves a stream of real-time alerts based on your current location and it pulls the information from a group of connected services. You might get historical snippets from Historvius, a restaurant recommendation from TimeOut, or a heads-up on some local music from Songkick. There are various categories and the app learns about you over time as you give the suggestion cards a thumbs up or down. It’s a great way to find out what’s going on around you, but, as with all these kinds of services, some areas are better served than others.

4. Xbox SmartGlass (Free)
Calling all Xbox 360 owners — this app gives you direct control over your console from your Android smartphone. You can select content, type through your phone, and browse the web. It also allows you to use your phone as a full remote control for playing music or movies. A small selection of content offers a second screen experience so you can interact through your phone and Microsoft expects that side of it to grow as more entertainment makers see the potential.

5. Flipboard (Free)
Flipboard is one of our favorite iPad apps and has spawned a number of copycats. The basic idea here is to create a magazine-like news experience by aggregating links from your Facebook friends, the people you follow on Twitter, interests you may have (like technology), and other favorite sites, and displaying them in a fun layout where you can flip through pages of new content anytime you want. The Android app has you swipe upward to flip through pages, but the concept translates pretty well to the small screen. Check it out. It’s free.

6. Instagram (Free)
If you’ve been on Facebook for the last year, you’ve likely seen a ton of retro-looking photos. Either they look faded out, or have any number of other effects on them. This is Instagram and iPhone users have had exclusive rights to it for quite some time. But that has changed. Instagram is now available on Android and its already one of the best looking Android apps. But hey, if you don’t download it no one is going to lose any sleep. Facebook recently bought Instagram for $1 billion.

7. Google Sky Map (Free)
This app from Google is frankly just really awesome. Using GPS, turn the app on while you are looking at the night sky and it will literally show you what to look for. The app depicts stars, constellations, and planets as you would see them looking directly at the night sky. Wonder what constellation those three bright stars are part of? Point your Android device in that direction and Google Sky Map will give you an answer.

8. Pinterest (Free)
If you’re part of the Pinterest brigade or you’re just curious about the craze for creating pinboards, then you should check out the Android Pinterest app. It allows you to create your own visual concept boards to gather your thoughts and plans on various topics and share them with the world. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, you can browse the creations of others, or you can use the app to organize your own finds from the web.

9. Flixster (Free)
This simple app is a must for movie lovers, offering a clean user interface and accurate movie listings at nearby theaters, based on your current location, of course. Perhaps the best feature of this app is its integration with online movie critic Mecca Rotten Tomatoes. Users can browse what’s out in theaters, or what’s playing nearby and access the RT reviews in just one click.

10. Layar (Free)
Augmented reality hasn’t yet graduated to the point where we’re ready to call it downright useful, but there’s no denying the fun to be had with playing Geordi La Forge from Star Trek with Layar. It layers information in real time over images captured by your phone’s camera, like historical pictures of the city you’re in, nearby landmarks, and superimposed future buildings.

National Debate:Should Sanjay Dutt Be Pardoned?

I don't know why people are saying Sajnay Dutt has already suffered a lot in these 20 years. Why, was he imprisoned for all these years? He hardly has spent one and a half year in jail. For the rest eighteen and a half years, he was free!

A truck full of weapons like AK-56 and hand grenades was standing outside his house. He knew what is there in the truck. He even kept one AK-56 with himself. He had (or has?) contacts with the underworld. His conversations with the 'Don' have now been revealed.

But our honourable chief of press council: Mr. Markandey Katju neglects these facts. He knows only two things.
1. Sanjay Dutt should be pardoned, because he has kids to look after.
2. Sanjay Dutt should be pardoned, because he has played the role of Munna Bhai!

Dear (Biased) Media,

Here is a small letter from an Indian Citizen who is fed up with you and your breaking news

Do not make Sanjay Dutt into a Hero as he is already one. He possessed weapons that citizens are not supposed to and is paying a price for the same

Don’t speak on your talk shows about his contribution to Bollywood and Films as by that Logic Big B should be allowed to massacre atleast 5000 Indians

Also he is not the only man in India who is being sent to Jail with a wife and small kids, many prisoners have wives and kids. Infact once they go to jail the family starves whereas the Dutt family will still continue to stay at Pali Hill and travel in luxury cars

Oh Media also do throw some light on how Sanjay Dutt was associated with the Congress and S.P.

More importantly stop interviewing bollywood stars and speak to those who lost their loved ones in the blast and air their views as that will be the Truth

Warm Regards,
An Indian Citizen fed up with Media

Is there any Separate Constitution of Sanjay Dutt ?? Why this Foolish Media and People asking Relief for Sanjay Dutt ? Is he National Hero ??? Only Sanjay Dutt have Family ?

What about the People who lost the Father Mother Child etc in that Blast of 1993 didn't have a Family?

I'm with Munna Bhai. But I'm not with Sanjay Dutt.

#Equal justice to all.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini – 4.3 inches, 1.6GHz dual-core:Leaked

Mumbai: The Galaxy S3 Mini is yet to officially make an entrance in India despite being launched last year, and there’s already a Galaxy S4 Mini in the works.

ChilloFy has got hold of some live photos of the younger brother of the Galaxy S4 and this time too, Samsung has stuck to the formula it started with the S3 Mini. For one, the S4 Mini looks a spitting image of the Galaxy S4, but that’s where the similarities stop.

The S4 Mini’s rumoured specs reveal a mid-range handset, which is only a slight improvement over the 2011 flagship Galaxy S2 in terms of specs. Even last year, the S3 Mini’s specs reminded us of the Samsung Galaxy S to a large extent when it came to the specs, with the exception of the design and mild upgrades in the hardware, of course.

The photos below confirm that the S4 Mini will even feature the back cover design of the latest Samsung flagship. And the “Mini” label is a bit of a stretch as the S4 Mini is quite large at 4.3 inches. Despite a large screen, the resolution of the device is a measly 960×540. With the qHD resolution, the S4 mini has exactly half the number of pixels on that display as its big brother.

The Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9190) will be available in a dual-SIM version as well, rumoured to be called the Galaxy S4 Mini duos (model number GT-I9192). The Galaxy S4 mini will be powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core CPU, which we suspect is a dual-core Exynos 4 chipset. It’s slightly bigger than the Galaxy S3 Mini, but that is to be expected considering the larger display.

Like the Galaxy S4, the Mini will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. According to the website’s source, the Galaxy S4 Mini will likely make its debut in June or July this year.

EVERYTHING ABOUT S4 That You Need to Know

A week after Samsung Unpacked, the buzz about the new Galaxy S4 is still going strong and we've decided to consolidate the facts in one easy, convenient location. Here's everything we know about the Samsung Galaxy S4 so far, from hardware specs to cool new features.

The Skinny on the S4's Hardware :

The S4 handset is a lighter, sleeker upgrade from Samsung's Galaxy S3, coming it at 0.31-inches thick, compared to the 0.34 inches on the S3. And while isn't a major difference, the S4 is a whole 0.1 ounces lighter than its predecessor. With a 5-inch screen, the S4 boasts one of the prettiest, clearest displays on the market, with a 441ppi Super AMOLED HD display, completed with exceptionally sturdy Gorilla Glass 3. While the S4 still has a plastic body, it feels sturdier and slightly more expensive in hand than the S3.

Depending on the market, the Galaxy S4 will come equipped with either a 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Processor or a 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Processor and 2 GB of RAM. The eight core Exynos processor is making its first appearance in a mobile phone with the S4 though consumers in the UK and a handful of other markets will have to settle for the still formidable four core Qualcomm processor in their devices.
The sizable display and impressive processor will be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery that is an incremental improvement on the S3's  2,100 mAh battery. And while there was some pre-launch concern about the amount go storage available on the S4, users will be happy to know that while Samsung will be selling three different models of the Galaxy S4 - with 16, 32, and 64 GB of internal storage - the microSD slot will support up to 64 GB of additional storage.
A Camera That Works Overtime  :
One of the Galaxy S4's strongest features is its new and improved camera, which comes with a slew of new bells and whistles, some of which work better than others. The rear camera has a whopping 13MP sensor and while the number of megapixels isn't necessarily an indicator of image quality, when we tested the phone at Samsung Unpacked, we were considerably impressed with the clarity and resolution of the photographs we took. The camera also comes with a high speed shutter that allows for features like Drama Shot, which creates a collage of sequential photos in a single image.

The 2MP front-facing camera allows for new features like Dual Shot, which inserts the photographer into the picture in an offset frame. The result is a bit cheesy, but neat idea nonetheless. The front camera is also utilized with Dual Video Call which combines with the rear camera to create a split-screen display for video calls. With the Cinema Photo feature, users can select a portion of their image to move while leaving the rest still, and the selective eraser will cure all your photobomb problems.
A Flurry of Features :
The device will ship with the latest version of Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) which has been on the market for some time now, so there are few surprises there. With the Galaxy S4's design, Samsung didn't see fit to reinvent the wheel so they're investing a lot in the device's new features. Much has been said about the phone's Smart Screen technology but as with so many things in this life, it works better in theory than in practice. Eye Scroll, which was advertised as tracking the user's eye movement so that the screen would intuitively scroll down while reading, but the feature actually relies on the phone's tilt angle more than eye-tracking technology. Smart Pause works much the same way and the device as to actually tilt in order for it to pause video when you look away from the screen.
Although Samsung said that the Galaxy S4 would work with gloves, we tried out the phone with several different pairs and only the very thinnest registered on the touch screen after several aborted attempts of frustrated jabbing. If you're big on silk opera gloves, then it shouldn't be a problem. Living up to the hype were Air View and Air Gesture which worked nicely (with bare hands) during our hands-on trial.
Voice recognition was a bit of a problem with the Galaxy S3 but as far as we can tell, the S4 has improved on that front. S Translate and S Voice Drive both utilize the device's voice recognition function and the translation tool worked remarkably well. It's worth noting that Voice Drive will only work with cars that come equipped with Bluetooth. For the health conscious user, the Galaxy S4 will also be shipping with S Health, which functions not only as a pedometer, but can also be used to track sleep patterns, exercise, and nutritional info.

Samsung is aiming to take a leap forward in integrating smartphone technology with external devices with their new media features. With the Galaxy S4's infrared transmitter, WatchON lets users control other devices, like their television sets, with their smartphone while also allowing for TV shows to be viewed on the device itself. Group Play lets users share media across devices and can even be used to combine phones like a music playing Megazord, with individual devices acting as left, right, and central speakers.
And finally, the Galaxy S4 will ship with Knox, Samsung's own security solution for combining your business and personal phones into a single device. Knox keeps your work life wholly separate from your personal life so employee privacy is respected while also protecting the enterprise IT.
A New Way to Play :
With surprisingly little fanfare, Samsung also introduced its new game controller at last week's event and many have noticed that its appearance seems to have been inspired by the design of the Xbox controller. The Game Pad, as it's currently being called, will work with the Galaxy S4 and Android 4.2.2 and all subsequent hardware and software releases from Samsung and will be compatible with 80 games at launch, 8 of which will be bundled with the device.

The controller's dock can support mobile phones with displays ranging from 4 to 6.3 inches, but it can also be hooked up to a television set via Bluetooth, effectively turning the Galaxy S4 into an Android gaming console. Though there is no release date set at this time, the controller is currently available for pre-order from select online merchants, with MobileFun listing a retail price of an eyebrow-raising $112.99.

Sony Xperia Z:review

This is largely as a result of whereas handsets just like the Xperia S and T have been attention-grabbing, showcasing what Sony's custom Bravia and camera technology could do, they ultimately fell short, packing outdated variations of Android and slower processors than the competition.

Fortunately though it appears this downside wasn't misplaced on Sony, which has come out swinging, unveiling what we predict might doubtlessly be its best smartphone to this point, the Xperia Z.
